No Limit Strategies for the Turn and River

Because the turn, along with the river, is the most essential element of any No Limit hand, players often make mistakes because of the pressure brought about by the larger bets. However, you can ease the pressure off yourself by learning the correct way to play at this stage of the game.

Of course, as stated, the turn is where the bets are doubled, and this fact will weigh in on every No Limit strategy that you will make at this point. For this reason, it is always a good idea to have the lead, or at least a potential winning hand, when you are at the turn. If you are confident that you have the best hand, then you can opt to increase the pot.

If you made your hand at the flop, or if the odds are in your favor, then you can go and build the pot. Do not make too large a wager that will send warning signals to the other Poker players on the table. Just enough so that they will think that you are still trying to make a hand.

Unless you are against a loose player, do not make any unwarranted calls on the turn and river in No Limit. Of course, if you sense that your opponent is on the verge or on a tilt, you can avail of this option. When you are on the river the most significant No Limit strategy that you should have is to avoid making bets unless there is a very good reason to. If you are in a high stakes, remember that your opponents will never call or raise you unless they are confident they are holding solid hands. Unless you are playing tourists and calling stations, avoid taking this risk in a No Limit game.

If you want to make a bet, you should only make a small one, particularly if you have the best hand. Again, do not take any unnecessary risks.

They may be good at playing pre and on the flop, but at the turn, they simply cannot cope with the additional pressure.
